Workshop Description:

The goal of this workshop is to prepare interpreters to become effective in interpreting a wide variety of art topics. While Art can become very conceptual and abstract, you will learn how to interpret visual concepts effectively. 

Educational Objectives:

At the conclusion of this workshop students will be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of basic art concepts and how to properly sign and interpret them. 
  • differentiate between different art topics, and how their interpreting should change based on specific art topics.

    Presenter Bio:

    Austin Balaich 

    Austin lives to create ART.  After graduating in 2014 from Brigham Young University with a BFA in Animation, Austin started off doing freelance work for a variety of clients before moving to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  In his 3 years at Kuala Lumpur, Austin led a training program of Deaf animators.  Navigating through the Malay and Chinese language barriers, Austin has the ability to teach Art in a very visual form.  Austin spent 1.5 years editing for Convo’s successful “Deaf Ecosystem Spotlight”.  After being the assistant editor on Convo’s short film “Gallaudet”, he moved up to a full-time video editor at Sorenson Communications.

    Full refunds will be given for all written (emailed) requests received within 30 days of purchase. No refunds will be given for requests received after that time but funds may be used toward a future Zaboosh workshop.
