Workshop Description:

Science, math, and tech can be intimidating subjects to interpret. There is so much jargon that doesn't necessarily have ASL equivalents and if you don't understand the concept yourself if can be very difficult to come up with an appropriate ASL interpretation. In this workshop we will take a whirlwind tour through a myriad of subjects including: biology, chemistry, algebra, coding, and more. Each subject will focus on key concepts, ways of conveying those concepts in ASL as well as a list of resources to help you prep.

Educational Objectives:

At the Conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the parts of a cell
  • Identify common elements on the Periodic Table
  • Describe 2-3 techniques that can be helpful when interpreting science, math and/or technology classes.
