Workshop Description:

As an educational interpreter, understanding what an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is and your role on the IEP team is vital. In this workshop we will go through an example IEP describing the various sections and how each affects your work. We will also discuss your role in shaping the IEP and how you can effectively participate as part of the IEP team.

Workshop Objectives:

As a result of attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the various parts of an IEP
  • Identify their role in the IEP team

    Presenter Bio:

    Chanté J. Wilson M.Ed. has been working as an interpreter since 2003. She has had the privilege of working in many interpreting settings including government, community, theatrical and medical though her favorite setting is higher education. She is also the proud founder of Zaboosh. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and a Master's degree in Instructional Design and Educational Technology. Chanté is passionate about learning and can often be found tinkering with a new type of software, acquiring a new skill or scoping out her next educational endeavor. She also loves spending time with her amazingly supportive family.
