Workshop Description:

In this workshop Dr. Kierstein Muroski and Dr. Carol Patrie will discuss the integration of Dawn Sign Press Material with GoReact. This integration makes grading and feedback easier for both instructors and students. We will discuss the ins and outs of integration as well as use cases and best practices. If you are an interpreter educator, this workshop is for you! 

Educational Objectives:

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Describe at least 2 ways integrating Dawn Sign Press material with GoReact will make grading and feedback easier.  
  • List at least 3 best practices for providing student feedback through GoReact.
  • Demonstrate how to integrate Dawn Sign Press material with their own GoReact account. 

Presenter Bios:

Dr. Kierstin Muroski,  PhD,  CI, CT

Dr. Muroski is Director of the Research in Interpretation and Translation Education (RITE) lab and Assistant Professor in the Department of American Sign Language Interpreter Education at the National Technical Institute of Technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Formerly, Dr. Muroski served as Program Coordinator for the ASL-English Interpreting programs at both Mount Aloysius College and Bloomsburg University.  Her M.A and PhD, both in Interpretation and Translation, were awarded by Gallaudet University. 

She has been using The Effective Interpreting Series in her teaching for nearly 20 years and has been developing expertise in incorporating GoReact into her courses since 2012.

Dr. Carol J. Patrie, Ph.D., CSC, CI, CT

Dr. Patrie, the author of The Effective Interpreting Series, is an independent researcher and writer, widely known for her many publications on teaching and interpretation. Her landmark research on fingerspelling is presented in Fingerspelled Word Recognition through Rapid Serial Visual Presentation. She also authored the four-volume video series, Interpreting Settings. 

Previously she was on the faculty at Gallaudet University, as Professor and Director of the MA in Interpreting. She is a past president of the Conference of Interpreter Trainers. Currently she serves on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Interpreter Education and The Journal of Interpretation.
