Workshop Description:

Interpreters often encounter situations where 'right' and 'wrong' are not clearly defined—where competing values, contextual pressures, and human dynamics blur ethical boundaries. This workshop invites participants to explore those grey areas through reflective discussion and structured analysis using real-world case studies. Participants will revisit the RID Code of Professional Conduct (CPC) as a guide for ethical reasoning, applying Reflective Practice and Demand-Control Schema frameworks to ethically ambiguous scenarios. The session will use discussion, guided reflection, and self-assessment to help interpreters refine professional judgment and ethical resilience.

Educational Objectives:

At the Conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the RID Code of Professional Conduct to real-world ethical dilemmas through reflective analysis.
  • Identify and evaluate the internal and external demands influencing ethical decisions.
  • Demonstrate awareness of personal values and reasoning processes that shape ethical choices.
  • Utilize reflective practice techniques to strengthen ethical decision-making and self-regulation.
