Workshop Description:

This 3 hour interactive workshop will give tips on how to appropriately and effectively voice for members of the opposite sex. It will teach interpreters why and how we communicate the way we do across genders.

Educational Objectives:

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Identify key differences in gender discourse styles
  • Demonstrate an understanding  of the history behind why men and women communicate the way they do.
  • Develop strategies for gender matching and balancing cross-cultural issues.

Presenter Bio:

Clinton Behunin, M.S.

ASL Interpreter, RID CI & CT, EIPA Secondary, UT Professional Certified

Clint’s professional career has afforded him a variety of professional opportunities as a college instructor all over the State of Utah. He is currently a faculty member at USU- Blanding teaching Communication Studies. He also serves as the advisor to the Cultural Ambassador Performance Program on the Blanding campus working with students who perform a variety of cultural dances from different cultures of the world. In addition to his work as an instructor, Clinton is a frequent workshop presenter in the interpreting community and regularly presents at national and international conferences. His academic and research interests include Intercultural Communications, Discourse Analysis, Indigenous Studies, and Situated Learning.
