Workshop Description:

This workshop will compare ethical standards for ASL interpreters throughout the years here in the USA as well as other countries. We’ll gain a historical perspective on why ethical standards have evolved. We will also discuss the reason ethics are important and what may be lacking in our current RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Educational Objectives:

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Explain changes in ethical standards historically
  • Articulate changes that need to happen in their own professional behavior
  • Identify ethical standards that could be added to the current Professional Code of Conduct
