Workshop Description:

This workshop will describe handshape development and articulation errors in young children.  We will discuss the development of handshapes in ASL and various ways that articulation can be impacted. We will then create IEP goals with a mock IEP team.

Workshop Objectives:

As a result of attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • identify the development of handshapes in ASL. 
  • describe various ways articulation can be impacted in asl. 
  • create IEP goals with a mock IEP team.

              Presenter Bio:

              Stephanie Morgan was born hearing and started to become deaf before she entered school. She is profoundly deaf now and uses sign language and English to communicate. Stephanie received her bachelor's in Special Education with an emphasis on Deaf Education and her Master's in Educational Leadership and Policy. Stephanie has been a teacher in the education field and the director for the Parent Infant Program under USDB for more than 15 years. Stephanie lives with her husband and three young children. She enjoys CrossFit, cooking, and exploring.
